The LHi Passport Spotlight: Lewis' adventure
At LHi Group, we’re all about embracing adventure, both at work and in life. That’s why, after five years with us, our LHi’ers earn the coveted LHi Passport, allowing them to experience a week at any of our global offices.
It’s a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture, meet colleagues from all corners of the globe, and expand your horizons.
In line with our identity statement, “We are adventurous,” this benefit is all about exploring, connecting, and stepping out of your comfort zone. In this series, we’ll hear from those who have recently used their LHi Passport, sharing their experiences and the impact it’s had on them.
This time, we’re hearing from our Design & Brand Manager, Lewis Cornwall:
Which global office did you choose for your LHi Passport trip, and why?
I chose the New York office because it's definitely one of my favorite cities in the world! I wanted to get a sense of what it's like working in such an influential city. Since New York was LHi Group's first US office, I wanted to experience it in person after eight years of working here.
How was your experience? What were your thoughts on that particular office?
It was a lot of fun! I was able to balance the LHi Passport experience with enjoying my time in New York, exploring the city and its different boroughs, and finally meeting some of the US team members I've worked with but never had the pleasure of meeting in person. I think it's always important for our teams around the world to meet the Operations department that supports them in their day-to-day work. It helps build strong working relationships and puts a name to the face after meeting in person!
Could you share some details about what you did during your time there?
Outside of work, I explored different areas of the city, checked out a lot of food spots, museums, and bars. There's so much diversity in New York, and it shows in the variety of places and experiences. Even just walking around and observing people going about their daily routines is something I enjoy! People are surprisingly friendly too—I think there's a perception of New York as a cold, tough place, which it can be. But I met so many nice people who were always up for a chat—I loved that!
For work, I had in-person meetings with some people in my department, which was great. I got to observe the routines of the NY office and see how the teams interact with each other. It was a chance to meet lots of people I’d heard of but hadn’t met yet—plus a few drinks on Friday made it even better!
What was the most memorable moment of your experience?
Honestly, just how massive and surreal the city is! There’s that cliché about ‘New York feeling like a movie,’ but it really does—especially for someone like me, where the novelty hasn’t worn off yet. There was this perfect golden hour in Central Park mid-week where we just sat and watched everyone enjoying their evening.
Williamsburg was also a lot of fun! And the BAGELS... I’ll be dreaming about some of those New York bagels until I can have them again.
What’s your top tip that you would give someone preparing for their own LHi Passport adventure?
Just take in as much of wherever you're going as possible! I don’t get to visit North America often, so I made sure to soak it all up—10 miles of walking a day! Try new things and enjoy every moment.
