<p>This year, our London office not only reached but surpassed their charity target, becoming the third office to achieve this milestone! Their exceptional dedication is making a real difference in the community. We caught up with the team to hear all about their exciting journey, creative fundraising ideas, and what made this year's efforts so impactful.</p>

<h5><strong>Tell us about the charity your office chose to support&mdash;why does it mean something to you?</strong></h5>
<p>&ldquo;The charity for the London office this year is <a href="https://designability.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Designability</a>. They have been <a href="https://www.sciproglobal.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SciPro&rsquo;s</a> charity partner for the past five years, and I was excited to have the full support of the London office in our fundraising efforts.</p>
<p>Designability is a UK-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through innovative design solutions. Their mission is to create products and services that empower individuals to live with greater independence and dignity.&rdquo;</p>

<h5><strong>What was your fundraising goal, and how did you come up with that number?</strong></h5>
<p>&ldquo;Our fundraising goal was &pound;5,000&mdash;the amount it costs Designability to produce a Wizzybug, an electric wheelchair designed to help children with rare muscular diseases gain greater independence in their lives."</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h5><strong>Why did you pick this charity for 2024? What drew you to it?</strong></h5>
<p>"SciPro is our Life Sciences recruitment brand, and originally, we wanted a life sciences based charity partner. The WizzyBug is a fully regulated medical device, so in 2018, when I first met Designability, the partnership made sense.</p>
<p>Since then, Designability has grown its offering and now designs and manufactures a number of products for individuals with disabilities. One of the products they designed was a charger for electric vehicles, a product closely aligned with our Clean Energy brand, <a href="https://www.pipermaddox.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Piper Maddox.</a></p>
<p>Additionally, in the years before Designability became the official London charity, we had raised &pound;15,000 for them, and we were really keen to hit the &pound;20k+ milestone with the help of the whole office.</p>
<p>With a direct connection to two of the three brands in the office, plus the relationship we&rsquo;ve built with the team there and the milestone figure of &pound;20,000, Designability was the perfect pick for London&rsquo;s 2024 charity partner."</p>

<h5><strong>What&rsquo;s been your favourite moment or the most rewarding part of working on this charity project?</strong></h5>
<p>"My favourite moment has been the Masquerade Black Tie Ball. Firstly, it was great to spend time with such dedicated and creative individuals from the London CSR committee. On top of that, it was a lot of fun to organise a gala ball for the entire office, and then have the chance to blow off steam and enjoy the night when it finally happened!</p>
<p>Close behind that was being invited by the team at Designability to attend the Third Sector Awards, which was a massive event at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in Hyde Park. Dario Canini from Designability was nominated for an award. It was amazing to spend time with the team from Designability and learn about the incredible work from so many UK charities.</p>
<p>My least favourite moment was 20 kilometers into the Battersea half marathon&mdash;just as the pain started kicking in!"</p>

<h5><strong>How did your team hit the target and make an impact in the community?</strong></h5>
<p>"We raised funds through a variety of methods. <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-dacey-03b01810a/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tom Dacey</a> and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/ellisward09/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ellis Ward</a> both ran a half marathon, while <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/oliverwood-/">Oliver Wood</a> took on the Three Peaks Challenge. Nick Mahoney completed an ultra marathon.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarah-bouvier-63b607210/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sarah Bouvier</a> and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/margareth-dauphard-57200214b/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Margareth Dauphard</a> did a sensational job organising a black-tie gala event, which became a real highlight&mdash;not just for the CSR team, but for the London office in 2024.</p>
<p>We also participated in a Thames River Clean-Up, spending a morning removing litter from the Thames (you&rsquo;d be amazed at what washes up!)."</p>

<h5><strong>Did your team come up with any cool or creative fundraising ideas that you&rsquo;d suggest to others?</strong></h5>
<p>&ldquo;The black-tie gala was excellent, featuring an auction, the opportunity to &ldquo;buy&rdquo; time off for a late start, and several smaller ways to raise money.&nbsp;Other than that, it was all hard work and the dedication of so many people in the London office who were passionate about supporting Designability.</p>

<h5 class="MsoNormal"><strong>Which global office did you choose for your LHi Passport trip, and why?</strong></h5>
<p class="MsoNormal">I chose Munich in May 2024 because I wanted to explore more of Europe after returning from the States. It's close to countries like Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, so I thought it could be a great opportunity for a two-in-one trip.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p>
<h5 class="MsoNormal"><strong>Could you share some details about what you did during your time there?</strong></h5>
<p class="MsoNormal">It's a short flight from the UK, and about an hour from the airport, and you&rsquo;re in the centre.&nbsp; We spent four days in Munich, getting around on the tram - which is super easy to get around on. Spent time in the English gardens &ndash; beautiful (check out the surfers), visited some cool museums, and took in some culture with our resident tour guide <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/patriciaschwenk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Patricia</a> (TA &amp; L&amp;D) and naturally <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/dan-perkins-89a45810b/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dan</a> (Head of LHi Munich) took us out to some quintessential Bavarian dining!</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Following this, we rented a car and drove 4 hours to Lake Garda in Italy for a week&hellip; what&rsquo;s not to love?</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Fantastic office location, vibey environment &amp; super cool people. The team was very welcoming to me and my family. There are plenty of food spots nearby and, of course...pubs.</p>

<h5 class="MsoNormal"><strong>What was the most memorable moment of your experience?</strong></h5>
<p class="MsoNormal">It was definitely going for dinner with Patricia and Dan with the family&hellip; lovely gesture for them to come out with us and have some free child care! Close second, watching the office wrap up the week with a crazy water spitting in the face game&hellip; I guess you had to be there!</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Step outside your comfort zone and go somewhere you don&rsquo;t know many people in the office.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Prepare &ndash; Let them know you are thinking / are going and ensure there will be a good crowd about&hellip; they will prompt the office to be available to show you around.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Finally, embrace it. Live like a local, go to their usual lunch spots, watering holes &amp; get involved in their weekly activities&hellip;. You never know, you might like it so much it could be you&rsquo;re new home!</p>

<p>My initial impression of LHi was that it was a company people genuinely loved working for. There was something in the air&mdash;it was clear that LHi was built by talented individuals who had created an incredible atmosphere and a business that truly punches above its weight in terms of size.</p>
<p>Above all, I felt a genuine desire within the business to improve, scale, and leave its mark on the industry.</p>

<h5 style="margin-left: 0cm; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;"><strong><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">If you had to pick one LHi moment, what has been your favourite over the past 10 years? </span></strong></h5>
<p>Hosting the 2020 &ldquo;LHi Experience&rdquo; in South Africa, just prior to the pandemic, was unforgettable. We had 25 of the best and brightest performers from across the group fly into Cape Town, where we spent time in the Winelands before heading out on a two-day safari. These incentive trips are always incredible experiences, but so many moments stood out during this trip&mdash;whether it was the tears of joy from the group witnessing the Big Five (especially the lions) for the first time, hosting the best LHi lunch club ever on a wine estate, or my personal highlight: watching the sunset over Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain with a glass of red in hand and 25 true friends for company. It just doesn&rsquo;t get much better than this!</p>

<p>Imposter syndrome is natural, but the key to overcoming it, is to walk headfirst towards it. Do this as often as you can, and don&rsquo;t hesitate to ask others for help! Embrace all the challenges that LHi offers, and raise your hand to take on as much as you can.</p>
<p>Take a moment now and then to enjoy the journey and appreciate the people who are with you for the ride. But above all else, join LHi sooner!</p>

<p>This is quite a personal sentiment for me, but I believe it captures the essence of the company&mdash;what I call the &ldquo;stardust.&rdquo; Throughout my time here, and despite the growth we&rsquo;ve experienced, that essence has remained unchanged. This &ldquo;stardust&rdquo; is the feeling you get when you walk into an LHi office (no matter where you are in the world) and how it instantly brings a smile to your face. It&rsquo;s the stories of people achieving growth, development, and success&mdash;sometimes beyond what they realised they were capable of&mdash;and then watching everyone celebrate that person with genuine happiness. That&rsquo;s what will always make LHi special for me.</p>

<p>Wow, how long do you have? I feel incredibly blessed to work alongside so many individuals in the group who have been at LHi for over five years. The biggest change I&rsquo;ve witnessed is the growth and transformation of so many people I feel I&rsquo;ve grown up with here. It&rsquo;s been an absolute privilege to see individuals from all corners of our group evolve into better people, recruiters, and leaders. This journey has significantly reshaped the company from a scrappy 30-person business to the firm we are today.</p>

<p>I&rsquo;ve been very fortunate in my career at LHi to have had the opportunity to travel to all of our offices multiple times (except for our newest Miami office). I never got around to using that passport incentive, but perhaps a trip to Miami in 2025 might be on the cards!</p>

<p>Opportunity&mdash;that&rsquo;s the overriding feeling I have when I think about LHi&rsquo;s future and how my future is intertwined with it. I feel very fortunate to be a custodian of LHi and to play a part in shaping its future. That future is built on the premise of ensuring we provide as many people as possible the chance to step out of their comfort zones and embrace opportunities for adventure, development, and growth. Being able to help others and watch them seize these opportunities is truly a privileged position.</p>

<p>It&rsquo;s very tough to single out one person, but there are three individuals who share a similar inspirational story. Whenever I experience moments of self-doubt or don&rsquo;t quite feel at my best, thinking of their stories and passion for the business helps me regain my footing. These individuals are <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/richardsonben/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ben Richardson</a>, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/mikebott/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Bott</a>, and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelgeorgiou/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michael Georgiou</a>. Together, they have a combined 41 years of service at LHi, each starting their recruitment careers as rookies before the company had more than 20 employees.</p>
<p>They have witnessed the ebb and flow of LHi&rsquo;s growth, from TG&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/tomglanfield/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(Tom Glanfield)</a> flat to a 400-person global recruitment firm. Along the way, they&rsquo;ve worn many different hats, travelled the world, launched offices and brands, and even broken new ground for LHi on different continents. These three have climbed every rung of the ladder at LHi and now sit at the top of our business as members of the C-Suite, each responsible for driving the company forward and ensuring we continue to improve.</p>
<p>What&rsquo;s even more incredible is that, despite their 41 years of service, all three show up every day with even more passion and excitement for what they do than they did ten years ago when I first met them.</p>
<p>Tenure is rare in recruitment, and I believe LHi&rsquo;s success in breaking the recruitment mold sets us apart from many other firms. These three individuals are the inspirational figures who motivate others in our group (including myself) to aim to walk in their shoes one day.</p>

<h5 style="margin-left: 0cm; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;"><strong><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">What would you say to anyone thinking about joining LHi?</span></strong></h5>
<p>Make sure to ask lots of questions and understand our ethos and what LHi is all about. Try to hear as many stories (both successful and challenging) from the people you&rsquo;ll be working with. Then, ask yourself if you are open to committing to being the best version of yourself and consistently pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. As long as your answer to those questions is 'yes', then go for it! It&rsquo;s a decision you won&rsquo;t regret today, and your future self will thank you for making it!</p>
