At LHi Group, we’re all about embracing adventure, both at work and in life. That’s why, after five years with us, our LHi’ers earn the coveted LHi Passport, allowing them to experience a week at any of our global offices.

It’s a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture, meet colleagues from all corners of the globe, and expand your horizons.

In line with our identity statement, “We are adventurous,” this benefit is all about exploring, connecting, and stepping out of your comfort zone. In this series, we’ll hear from those who have recently used their LHi Passport, sharing their experiences and the impact it’s had on them.

First up, we’re hearing from our Talent Partner, James Westwood!

Which global office did you choose for your LHi Passport trip, and why?

I chose Munich in May 2024 because I wanted to explore more of Europe after returning from the States. It's close to countries like Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, so I thought it could be a great opportunity for a two-in-one trip.

Could you share some details about what you did during your time there?

It's a short flight from the UK, and about an hour from the airport, and you’re in the centre.  We spent four days in Munich, getting around on the tram - which is super easy to get around on. Spent time in the English gardens – beautiful (check out the surfers), visited some cool museums, and took in some culture with our resident tour guide Patricia (TA & L&D) and naturally Dan (Head of LHi Munich) took us out to some quintessential Bavarian dining!

Following this, we rented a car and drove 4 hours to Lake Garda in Italy for a week… what’s not to love?

How was your experience? What were your thoughts on that particular office?

Fantastic office location, vibey environment & super cool people. The team was very welcoming to me and my family. There are plenty of food spots nearby and, of course...pubs.

What was the most memorable moment of your experience?

It was definitely going for dinner with Patricia and Dan with the family… lovely gesture for them to come out with us and have some free child care! Close second, watching the office wrap up the week with a crazy water spitting in the face game… I guess you had to be there!

What’s your top tip that you would give someone preparing for their own LHi Passport adventure?

Step outside your comfort zone and go somewhere you don’t know many people in the office.

Prepare – Let them know you are thinking / are going and ensure there will be a good crowd about… they will prompt the office to be available to show you around.

Finally, embrace it. Live like a local, go to their usual lunch spots, watering holes & get involved in their weekly activities…. You never know, you might like it so much it could be you’re new home!
