LHi Bristol reaches charity goal for Avon Needs Trees!

This year, our Bristol office has hit their charity target, becoming the second office to achieve this milestone! Their incredible dedication is making a real difference in the community. We caught up with the Bristol team to hear all about their fun journey, creative fundraising ideas, and what made this year's efforts so impactful.

Here's what our chair of the Bristol committee, Jamie Holmes had to say:

Tell us about the charity your office chose to support—why does it mean something to you?

“This year, Bristol have been raising money for Avon Needs Trees. 

Avon Needs Trees is a Bristol-based charity dedicated to buying, planting, and preserving land for reforestation in the Bristol-Avon catchment area. Their mission is to create sustainable and healthy ecosystems that benefit both people and wildlife in the region.

The Bristol Avon area has been severely affected by deforestation over the last few decades and this charity looks to combat that and provide a long-term solution.

Bristol being a Piper Maddox office, we are very passionate about sustainability. This charity aligns nicely with our passion and allowed us to support a local charity and the wider Bristol community! "

What was your fundraising goal, and how did you come up with that number?

“Our fundraising goal was £2,000. Based on last year's target of £1,000 and a few new people in the office, I thought this would be a great figure to aim for. But this won't slow us down! We're continuing to hold fundraising events this quarter along with volunteer days to further our impact in the community.”

Why did you pick this charity for 2024? What drew you to it?

“We gave the Bristol office a chance to find a local charity that they felt resonated with our values and mission. Everyone with a charity choice pitched to the office about why we should choose their charity, and Avon Needs Trees was a clear winner.

Avon Needs Trees being Bristol-based and well aligned with Piper Maddox’s sustainability mission, made it a great choice for this year's charity."

What’s been your favorite moment or the most rewarding part of working on this charity project?

“So far, the most rewarding fund-raising project has been the Tree Maintenance day we spent with our charity partner. 

The whole office spent a day with our Avon Needs Trees helping them maintain the Tree saplings that were planted last winter. With all 21 of the Bristol office helping, we were able to make a considerable contribution to making sure that the Tree’s that were planted in Winter were well kept and increase their survival rate.”

How did your team hit the target and make an impact in the community?

"We have been consistently doing lots of little charity raising schemes throughout the year. Our biggest money-raising event has been the Tree Maintenance day where we were really able to add value to our charity partner and make a positive impact on the community.”

Did your team come up with any cool or creative fundraising ideas that you’d suggest to others?

“Charity Poker Night, Spanish tapas, Various Pub crawls and we have a few events still to come – Tree planting day with Avon Needs Trees and the infamous Christmas Hootenanny!"
